Care

We want you to love and wear your pieces for a long time. By cleaning, polishing and storing your jewellery correctly, they’ll continue to look their absolute best and be a loved part of your wardrobe.

GENERAL CARE FOR SILVER AND BRASS JEWELLERY

Some tips and tricks to keep in mind…

  • Don’t shower, bathe or swim with your brass jewellery on, especially at the beach or in chlorinated water.
  • Apply lotions, makeup, perfumes etc. to your skin before putting your jewellery on as the chemicals can react with the metal and potentially alter the colour and / or finish.
  • Store your jewellery in an air-tight bag and keep it separated from your other jewellery so they don’t get tangled or rub each other. An anti-tarnish strip is great to keep in the bag with the piece (3M have Anti-tarnish tabs that are available online or in some jewellery supply stores).
  • Avoid storing your jewellery in the bathroom, as humidity tarnishes metal quickly.
  • Clean your jewellery with a soft jewellery polishing cloth and never with serviettes, napkins or tissue paper as these can cause scratches.

POLISHING & CLEANING SILVER

Tarnished silver is easily cleaned to get your piece looking like new again;

  • We recommend using a treated jewellery cleaning cloth which works great as a quick and instant clean and shine tool. They are treated with special jewellery cleaning chemicals and are made of a soft, non-scratching material. They’re available from Jewellery supply stores or online.
  • For tougher tarnished silver, you can use a silver cleaning product such as Tarn-off (available from hardware stores). NOTE: Do not use this product on any jewellery which has a black oxidised finish as this may remove the finish.
